I first met this beautiful family when I took family photos for them last Spring at Fletcher Park. When I found out that they were expecting another baby I couldn’t have been more honored to photograph them again. I couldn’t wait to see how sweet these big sisters would be with a newborn baby brother! I focus on newborn photography in Raleigh and surrounding areas, so the quick trip over to Durham for this session was a breeze.

The Newborn Photography Session

I remembered how much fun it was to work with these precious little girls during their family session and looked forward to seeing them again!

Their family was living in a townhome while waiting for their new home to complete construction. Mom had some concerns about having a suitable location for photos, but it worked out great! We did the entire session in their main bedroom which had beautiful lighting and wonderful, neutral decor. A beautiful bed and great lighting is a perfect setup for my style of newborn photography which is light and soft.

The Proud Big Sisters

I find working with older siblings makes for so much cuteness (and sometimes a little chaos). Patience is always the key, and breaks for snacks are always a great idea!

Big sister’s grin is just contagious isn’t it? She was so excited to hold her baby brother for a photo as well, and my heart almost exploded.

I wanted to also include Mom’s Moses basket, and it created such a cute moment with the sisters.

The Parents

Many parents talk about how the photos of their baby with siblings is the most important to them, but I know how much it matters to get the parents in the photos as well! I still look back at photos of myself with my babies, and I can’t imagine not having those precious memories preserved. Newborn photography is much more than creating pretty pictures to post on social media. These images are incredibly important tools to preserve a family’s memories for generations to come.
