Raleigh Maternity Photographer | 4 Reasons Why You Should Have A Maternity Session
When you’re expecting a baby there are so many exciting things to do to prepare yourself for becoming a parent or adding another little one to your family. A lot of women consider having maternity photos taken but may decide against it for a number of reasons. As a maternity photographer in Raleigh, I hear it all the time – you don’t feel beautiful, you have too much going on, or you just want to focus on baby. However, even if you don’t feel like a glowing goddess during pregnancy I strongly feel that you should have maternity photos taken!
Today I want to share four important reasons for why I think all moms should do a maternity session.
1. Celebrate the amazing work your body is doing
Growing a baby is an incredible but challenging journey and you deserve to celebrate that! Whether your pregnancy is smooth and uncomplicated, or is more difficult it’s worth documenting. As a mom of two boys who never had professional maternity photos, I do wish that I could go back in time and have them taken. My body worked so hard to create my beautiful babies! I wish I had some beautiful photos to honor that.
2. Document this exciting time for your family
Whether this is your first child, or you have other children already, expecting a new baby is a very significant time in your family’s history! Maternity sessions give us an opportunity to take a moment amidst all of the baby excitement to honor your family as it is right before adding a new little one. For first time parents this is such a significant change. I love photographing couples just before they grow their family!
If you already have a child or multiple children, this is a great opportunity to shower them with love and cuddles before they go through a big adjustment with a new sibling.
3. Show that baby how cherished they were before they were even born.
Your maternity photos will be beautiful and I know you’ll want to display them in your home and share them with friends and family. However, a very important point to remember is the purpose that they will serve in the future. One day, that baby will grow up and you’ll be able to show them these photos and let them know just how excited you were for them to arrive. Seeing the anticipation and happiness in your photos is just another way to show them how much you have loved them even before they were born.
4. Do something special for yourself
I think this one speaks for itself. Having maternity photos taken is the perfect opportunity to have a day just for you! Get yourself a pretty dress, maybe pamper yourself with hair and makeup, and whatever else helps you to feel refreshed and beautiful (spa day anyone?). You deserve it!
