Scout’s In-Home Newborn Session

Getting to photograph a couple for their maternity session is so special and sweet, but getting to then visit their home the next month or so to meet their newborn baby and take in-home newborn photos is such a wonderful experience for me. Seeing the transformation when they become parents and documenting these precious moments is what makes this job so rewarding. I know that these times aren’t easy, but they are full of love and so beautiful, and the images we create will be cherished for many years to come.

I arrived at their home on a somewhat gloomy February morning and was immediately inspired by their beautiful decor and natural light. Dad gave me a little tour (which is how I always like to start in-home sessions), and we narrowed down which rooms we would use for photos. For this session we used their living room, baby’s nursery, and their dining space which was open with lots of windows.

Baby Scout was then wrapped in her adorable swaddle with pink silk bow and we all just swooned over how cute she looked! It was no surprise to me that she could pull off a big bow 🙂

After a doing a variety of shots downstairs, we moved into her gorgeous nursey with pink striped wallpaper and fun, girly touches. We spent some time focusing on mom & baby and got some stunning shots of the two of them together. Aren’t mom’s eyes just incredible in this photo?

Next I wrapped baby Scout and found an adorable headband for her, and we got some photos of the family together.

Probably the most fun part was the little setup that Scout’s dad had purchased for her which was absolutely hilarious and adorable. You just have to see it to believe it.

I still can’t believe I caught that little grin! Isn’t this just amazing?!?

And then we got some images that were a little more of my style 🙂

We then finished up with some photos near a huge set of windows which are just stunning, I still can’t get over how beautiful the family all looked together!

I have a feeling this session will go down as one of my favorites ever – and I am so grateful to have been able to create these images for them to have forever. Baby Scout will never be that small again, but they will always have these photos to remember just how tiny and adorable she was.
