After what felt like a very long, wet and dreary winter I could not have been more excited for Spring to arrive! Getting outdoors and soaking up some Vitamin D is just what I’ve needed, especially with the added isolation due to the pandemic. Along with the beautiful weather has come a bunch of beautiful newborn sessions that I am so excited to share with you!
Baby Violet and her parents could not have been more lovely to work with. I felt so at-ease as soon as I arrived and found these two parents to be relaxed, fun, and incredibly in love with their baby girl. Sweet Violet made my job super easy by snoozing almost the entire time I was there! She was such a pleasure to work with and didn’t mind me moving her around (which I do a lot!).
We started her session in her parents’ bedroom which was beautiful and light! I absolutely loved how all of the light and neutral colors created this bright and crisp aesthetic. We were also so fortunate to have such a sunny, gorgeous Spring day which is always ideal for indoor photography. Although I am comfortable working in all types of lighting situations, lots of bright natural light is my favorite!
I was so excited when I arrive to find that they had a super friendly cat who became my new friend right away. I absolutely love incorporating pets into in-home sessions, they’re part of the family too! He wasn’t too interested in being held for photos, but he definitely liked to stick around and made his way to a bunch of cute shots on his own. I absolutely loved him and it reminded me of how much I miss being around cats, especially ones as adorable as he is.
When we headed in to Violet’s nursery, I saw that they had a beautiful heirloom rocking chair which was situated in just the most perfect spot for photos. Having these big windows to work with made my little photographer heart so happy – and I spent a lot of time capturing Violet’s sweet details and snuggles in this chair!
It is hard to pick a favorite from these beautiful images, but I think if I had to I would choose this one below. The way she is laying so cozy in her mom’s lap with her parents’ hands surrounding her with love just melts me. Also the lighting was absolutely perfect and created such a soft and sweet image.
Their beautiful nursery had so many precious details that I loved capturing!
I can’t help but lean towards these simple, all-white setups for individual newborn shots. I also will never get tired of this wrapping style, the little feet sticking out just makes parents (and me!) melt every time.
One of my favorite parts about Spring newborn sessions is the beautiful weather that allows us to get outside and do some photos in the yard as well! This family has an absolutely gorgeous back yard with this awesome retaining wall and steps that I just loved for these images.
Overall, I was just so pleased with everything about this session and I hope that this family will cherish these images for generations to come!
