Today I am sharing an absolutely gorgeous in-home newborn session with you! As a newborn photographer in Raleigh I usually don’t have too far to travel for sessions. However, the trip up to Louisburg NC was absolutely worth it to get to meet this gorgeous little guy and his sweet family.
I arrived on a cold January morning but was immediately warmed by the hospitality of Johnnie’s parents. I felt welcomed and knew that this couple could not wait to get some photos and show off their beautiful baby boy.
We started our session with a few photos of Johnnie & his dad, since dad had to get back to work when he was done. I am always happy to accommodate doing photos with dad and/or siblings first. Quite often one parent (usually dad) will already be back at work when our session takes place. We could start a conversation about parental leave but I’ll leave that for another day 🙂
We also had an adorable furry member to include in the session so we got her in right away! She was so sweet and happy to be involved.
If you’re new to my work, in-home sessions almost will always include family pets as long as they’re willing! I know how much my dogs are a part of my family and I’m always happy to have them in as many photos as the family wants.
I just love how they are so loving and adoring in all of these images, and that little boy just slept like a champ through it all.
This beautiful sitting room created such a gorgeous backdrop for this new little family portrait!
Next, we headed into a guest bedroom that had the most gorgeous natural light to finish up family photos with dad & their sweet pup. At first I was concerned about the harsh light from the windows/blinds, but I actually think it’s so interesting and lovely in these images!
This next image is one of my favorites from our session (although really choosing one favorite is almost impossible in this case). I thought that the beautiful light just sparkled in mama’s eyes!
Those little squishy newborn cheeks and lips, oh my goodness!
Once dad headed off to work, we took a moment to get a shot of the baby and his puppy sister which was just about the cutest thing ever. I probably squealed with excitement when she cooperated so nicely and even gave him kisses!
I spotted this sunroom when I arrived and immediately knew that I wanted to do some photos in there. Mama also had this gorgeous peacock chair which is such a special and unique piece. She changed into this stunning floral dress that photographed perfectly in this room!
And that was a wrap! Baby Johnnie was a dream throughout the session and I am so in love with all of the beautiful images that we captured.
If you’re expecting and interested in having me photograph your family & new little one, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I recommend booking several months in advance of your due date to ensure my availability.
